A resident of Henderson, Nevada for over 15 years, I was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan one of the former Soviet Union Republics, now a main economic and cultural center of Central Asia. In 1988, with help of HIAS, the world’s oldest refugee agency, the Kleytman family found their way to freedom in the USA and was resettled in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. At age 16 as a junior, I enrolled at Whitefish Bay High School and in 1995 graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a dual degree in International Relations and Russian Language.
Raised in Whitefish Bay Wisconsin, I grew up being taught the value of integrity and hard work by my mother, a bookkeeper and my father talented inventor and an electrical engineer. In the fall of 2000, I was fortunate to meet and marry my life partner Flora, who shares with me the importance of security and education for our children and our community. Flora and I are proud parents of two boys who attend Las Vegas Academy of the Arts majoring in Band. We are also busy parents of 3 Airedale Terriers Nikko, Gigi and Coco ages 11, 4 and 16-week-old puppy.
As a small business owner and a financial and insurance professional, I believe we need to make smart investments for the future of our city. My goal is to serve our community and continue to build relationships and to return to a separate Henderson Public School District, improve the development of public safety and continual improvement in the management and administration of the City of Henderson. A supporter of local organizations, I volunteer my time with Families for Effective Autism Treatment, Inc (FEAT) an organization that provides information on therapies, support services, and resources for families and individuals impacted with autism spectrum disorder and related disorders. In 2014, I was one of the sponsors of the “A Games,” working with T.J. Lavin, Las Vegas born and “the greatest BMX rider of all time”, T.J. is instrumental in creating these opportunities for our communities’ children. The “A Games” are similar to the well know “X Games,” but for children on the autism spectrum. FEAT is an amazing organization that provides programs, events, community outreach, support, guidance and opportunities to serve others with similar needs and concerns.
I am a resident of the Mission Hills area of Henderson and have been elected to serve as president of the MPRA (Mission Hills/Paradise Hills Rural Alliance). I appreciate the efforts put forth by all Rural Alliances in Henderson and support the preservation of our special rural neighborhoods.
In early 2015 I started volunteering in clothing drives for SafeNest. SafeNest provides confidential emergency shelter to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Over the years a group of local business owners and I raised thousands of dollars to support services like a 24/7 hotline 800-799-7233/702-646-4981, emergency shelters, transitional housing, counseling services, court support and advocacy.
In summary, I am a successful leader supporting organizations that assist those most in need. I look forward to serving the citizens of Henderson, Nevada.
